The tranquil and beautiful former fishing village of Akbuk is set at the head of Akbuk Bay, about 20 kms from the popular resort of Altinkum. Akbuk is a quiet town and ideal for families and couples. Many Turks have second, holiday homes in this area and it is also popular with British expats. The pretty harbour is the centre of activity in Akbuk; here you can eat in one of the many restaurants, take a cruise or fishing trip, or simply stroll and watch the evening crowds.

Akbuk is well served by public transport. Bodrum Milas airport is only 70kms (44 miles) away and Izmir airport is around 140kms (87 miles). There are regular bus services from both airports, although most people opt for a shared taxi.

Akbuk is a small town with a residential population of around 4,000. As such it is ideal for those wanting to escape the super-resort hordes. But the other side of that coin is that some of the infrastructure and facilities can be a bit basic. Sewage works on septic tanks and soakaways and the electricity supply is not always 100% constant.
