Map of Antalya Turkey

Although Antalya relies heavily on tourism, as an old town and provincial capital it has its own economy based on commerce, light industry and agriculture. Local agricultural production includes citrus fruits, cotton, cut flowers, olives and bananas. Since the year 2000 there has also been the Antalya Free Zone, a shipyard area that specialises in building luxury pleasure yachts.

The old town of Antalya has a thriving tourist scene with plenty of bars, restaurants, boutique shops and coffee shops to choose from. The old town has kept much of its ancient character and is a must for visitors.

When you’re researching property in Antalya be sure that you are looking at property in Antalya city and not the whole province, unless of course that is what you are looking for. Because it is a large ‘proper’ town Antalya offers some great bargains at what aren’t necessarily tourist prices. Less than £30,000 will buy you a 1 bedroom apartment in a high rise complex. You will have access to a shared pool and gardens and 24/7 security and maintenance team.

Property for sale in Antalya Turkey

If you raise your budget to around £70,000 – £90,000 you can find a 2-3 bedroom house with all the trimmings. At this price most pools are still shared but if you look around you can find private ones. One of the great things about Antalya is that, for the same price, you can pretty much choose between being near the sea or somewhere cooler in the hills.

There’s plenty of luxury property for sale in Antalya Turkey for those looking at the top end of the budget range. £1.5 million will buy you a stunning private 6 bedroom villa perched in the hills. For this sort of money you can expect a large pool, extensive gardens, fully contained guest house and complete privacy. It’s a lovely thought…
