The town of Kas sits at the head of the Kas Peninsula, a long spit of land that reaches out and dissects Kas Bay on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. Once named Antiphellos, Kas is one of the many beautiful harbours that line the coast of Antalya province. The town (and area) are chock full of antiquity, a mark of its Lycian heritage. There is a well-protected, ancient theatre, a necropolis and rock tombs carved into the rocks of the hillside. There’s also a Lycian style in the town centre.

Map of Kas Turkey

Kas harbour is a regular stopping off point for the yachts that cruise the eastern Mediterranean. You can take boat trips from here to the Kekova-Kale-Uc Agiz region as well as to the Greek island of Meis (Megisti), just across the harbour.

Kas town plays host to some excellent restaurants, terrace bars and tea gardens. There are two beaches in the town – Big Pebble Beach and Little Pebble Beach. There are also many swimming platforms. The glorious Limanagzi Beach, complete with restaurant, can be reached by water taxi. These leave regularly throughout the day, take around 10 minutes, and at about 50p a pop they won’t break the bank.

If sandy beaches are more your cup of tea, then take a dolmus along the coast road to Kaputas. Here, at only 20 minutes away, you will find the dramatic Kaputas Gorge and as much golden sand as you could wish for.

If looking for property in Kas, you could do worse than check out some of the apartment blocks set into the hillside above the town. Here, for around £50,000, you can find a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in a block of 4. These will have shared pool and gardens, air conditioning and some of the most amazing views across the bay to Meis and beyond.

Property for sale in Kas Turkey

If you’ve got a bit more to spend then up to around £200,000 will buy you one of the glorious detached villas that dot the hillsides. You can expect at least 3 bedrooms, private pool and gardens, quality finishes and, of course, more of those stunning views.

Top end of the properties for sale in Kas, Turkey are really something to write home about. £1.65 million will fetch you a stunning hotel/apartment complex with 8 x 1 bedroom apartments, 4 studios and 2 penthouses. All elegantly furnished and equipped with a couple of pools, and again, that jaw-dropping view across the Med. It’s an investment opportunity but I, for one, dream of living in it as a home.
