As with some other Turkish resorts, there are several towns and villages called the same name. A search of Google maps could have you deep in central Turkey or up on the Black Sea coast. It’s probably a safe bet that if you are thinking of sunny holiday destinations then the Ovacik for you is the popular tourist resort in the province of Mugla and is near Fethiye and Olu Deniz.

Ovacik is set a couple of miles back from the coast, around a five minute drive from Hisaronu. It Is surrounded by pine forests and almond groves and has good access to nearby Olu Deniz beach which is a mixture of pebbles, fine shingle and sand. Golden sandy beaches extend along the coast in both directions from Olu Deniz and towards the west you will find the famous Blue Lagoon which is in a National Park Area. There is a small charge to enter the park (less than £1.00) but you will find it worthwhile when you see some of the most stunning coastal scenery in Turkey. The lagoon itself is touted as one of Turkey’s most photographed beaches, and it’s easy to see why. If you travel inland from the coast you will be greeted by a glorious countryside of forests, gorges and vistas.
